3.1 Curriculum
The K-12 curriculum in the Philippines is a 13-year program that includes kindergarten through 12th grade. It aims to prepare students for college, employment, and entrepreneurship. The curriculum also aims to develop 21st century skills.
Structure
Elementary School: Grades K–5
Middle School: Grades 6–8
High School: Grades 9–12
Curriculum features:
Spiral progression: Concepts are taught in a spiral progression to ensure seamless learning
Tracks: Students can choose between academic, technical-vocational-livelihood, and sports and arts tracks
Mother tongue: The curriculum aims to build proficiency in the mother tongue
College standards: The curriculum aligns with college standards
Global competency: The program promotes global competency by making Filipino graduates more recognizable in other countries
